Turn a video podcast into short clips

A filmed episode can contain several passages that work on their own. GeniusClip finds them, crops them to vertical and adds subtitles; you decide which ones to post.

1. Start with a filmed episode and clear audio

Use a video you have the necessary rights to process. Paste an accessible YouTube link or upload the video file. The import needs both video and audio: an MP3 file on its own is not a supported source.

Listen to a few passages first. Overlapping voices or loud music can make transcription less reliable. Check whether faces and important details will remain visible in a vertical frame.

Videos can be up to four hours long. File size and available storage are separate limits: an episode can meet the duration limit and still be too large to upload. See the import guide for these checks.

2. Check the preview and credit estimate

In the Studio, paste the link or choose the file, then check the source, duration and quoted cost. Choose your subtitle style and the available options before starting the project.

Standard processing uses one credit per minute of source video, rounded up to the next minute. A 42-minute episode uses 42 credits in standard processing; 42 minutes and 10 seconds uses 43. Options can change the total: use the quote shown in the Studio.

The number of clips depends on the passages found. A longer episode does not guarantee more useful excerpts or a fixed number of clips.

3. Watch each clip as a new viewer would

Listen to the opening without relying on your memory of the episode. Can you tell what it is about? If an answer depends on an earlier question, that context must be clear. Watch to the end: the passage should deliver its point without cutting off the answer.

Check names, numbers, subtitles and framing. The score out of 100 helps compare excerpts; it does not measure future views. The selection guide explains how to review them.

Titles, hooks and post descriptions are written in French by default. Subtitles follow the transcript, without automatically translating the video. The Studio interface is currently in French and has no manual video editor: precise edits require a separate editor after download.

4. Download, or schedule a TikTok post

Download the clips you keep to post them on YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or TikTok. Review the description and the platform’s current requirements when publishing.

For TikTok, subscribers who link their account can also schedule posts in GeniusClip, without a watermark. Automatic publishing to YouTube and Instagram is not available in the current workflow.

Keep a copy of the exports you want to retain: projects expire after the retention period listed on the pricing page.

120 credits once, with no credit card required. The Studio is in French.
